India ranks 39th in the global innovation index (gii) 2024, marking an improvement of one position from 2023 and 42 positions over the past nine years, according to the latest gii report published by wipo (world intellectual property organisation).

Tracking the most recent global innovation trends, the gii finds that innovation investment slowed in 2023, in marked contrast to previous years, making the prospect for 2024/2025 remarkably uncertain. India retains 40th rank out of 132 economies in the global innovation index 2023 rankings published by the world intellectual property organization.
